A truck accident turned fatal for the driver of a pickup near mile-marker 136 on I-64 in Raleigh County on Tuesday. The pickup rear-ended a semi, resulting in fatal injury to the driver of the smaller vehicle. The name of the victim has not yet been released by the Raleigh County Sherriff’s Department and the cause of the accident is still under investigation. This is the second accident along this stretch of highway in two weeks.
This part of I-64 includes Sandstone Mountain, which has a seven percent grade over five miles for a total vertical descent of over 1,400 feet. It is known to be one of the most dangerous roadways in the area.
There are, of course, several factors that can go into even the most basic of truck accidents. This is why you need an attorney who will investigate the accident on your behalf as soon as possible. Proper compensation requires liability be established – a job is best left to an experienced truck accident attorney.
