West Virginia’s Rural Roads and Bridges Have “Significant Deficiencies”

A new report by the nonprofit transportation research group TRIP identifies the states with the largest number of deficient or “functionally obsolete” rural roads and bridges. West Virginia is one of only three states to be listed in the top 20 of each category highlighted in the final report.

According to TRIP, West Virginia:

  • Has the 3rd highest number of poorly maintained rural roads
  • Has the 19th highest number of deficient rural bridges
  • Has the 3rd highest number of fatal auto accidents on rural roads

Thousands of people in West Virginia rely on rural roads and bridges every day. Sadly, these people are nearly three times more likely to be involved in a fatal car accident than those using better maintained roadways.

When you are injured or a loved one is killed on a rural roadway, you have a right to seek compensation through swift and aggressive legal action.
